According to Radio Prague International, the first session of the Chamber of Deputies was held after the election.
The newly elected members of parliament took office by swearing in.
The winners of the election, ANO, SPD, and the “Bikers” party also signed an agreement on a coalition government.
According to the agreement, the prime minister will be from ANO, and the candidate for the president of the Chamber of Deputies will be nominated by SPD. The coalition will represent 108 out of 200 seats in the Chamber of Deputies.
ANO will nominate candidates for 9 ministries including Finance, Industry, Health, Labour, Interior, Regional Development, and Justice, while SPD will nominate candidates for Defence, Agriculture, and Transport ministries.
The “Bikers” party, on the other hand, will nominate candidates for the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, and Environment, as well as for the newly established Ministry of Sports, Prevention, and Health.
SPD leader Tomio Okamura described the agreement as “the end of a government that harms Czech interests,” while Petr Macinka, the leader of the “Bikers” party, defined it as “the first step towards the change demanded by the voters.”
